From Wall we went out Hwy 240 through the Bad Lands National Park and came back to Custer using Hwy 44 which was very scenic. Cindy did not see much of it because she had eye lid problems.

Today we went to the Bad Lands in South Dakota, by way of Wall Drugs, in Wall, SD. If you have never been to this part of the country you may not understand the significance of Wall Drugs. In the 1920's and 1930's and forever after they offered free ice water to travelers through the area. It was a way to get visitors to stop in and buy other things. Very cute marketing trick. The tradition carries on today because there are signs all along I-90, which is the major interstate through here, as there was in the 1920's and or 1930's on other highways. Cindy must have taken a picture of very one from Rapid City to Wall. Wall Drug has expanded their store to cover about one city block and if it was not for there advertising the town of Wall would be nothing. We went inside and spent about two hours there shopping but bought only two Christmas gifts. My wallet said thank you!
