July 4th, 2016, Monday

The fourth of July in Cody, WY is something to behold.  They had a parade to start off the day and then there was food all over the place and then a road trip to Wapiti, WY  (Nothing there, we just went because it seemed to be the thing to do) and then came the Rodeo with world champion bull and broncos and cowboys and cowgirls.  After the Rodeo, they had an hour worth of fireworks, which we viewed from Skyline Drive.  Yes, it is a view from above on the mountain and the fireworks were on the river bottom in the valley.  The fireworks were great and they were big and loud and went in the air forever.  It was a great day of fun and a very busy day.  We were running from one event to another.

The parade was the first one we have been to in years.  We bought a cheap pair of chairs ($6.00) and placed them on the sidewalk the night before, hoping they would not be stolen but the cost was not that great and the loss would not be either.  Chairs were there and we had a great view of the parade coming down main street.  There were beautiful horses in the parade and lots of cowboys and some Indian girls riding bare back as a group.  Lots of old cars, trucks and fire trucks and old people driving them.

The Rodeo was great also and much better than the one I posted about while we were in West Yellowstone.  There were some first class horses and bulls in the events not to mention the cowboy and the cowgirls.  They had the Indian group back there riding bare back and the horse did not have bridals but only a rope around their necks to guide them.

Sunset before the fireworks.
