June 13, 2016

We traveled from West Yellowstone to Yellowstone park today.  We went towards Old Faithful first with some stops at the geysers along the way.  Yellowstone is full of the geysers.  We spent some time walking around the geysers and taking photos. These geyers have plenty of sulfur in them and this started to make Cindy sick since she is allergic to it.  We decided that we had seen enough of the geysers, with the exception of Old Faithful.

We arrived there around 11:15 AM and it was scheduled to go off at 11:26 AM.  What timing!!  It did start around 11:26 AM but it only sputtered for a few minutes and then it started to gush, higher and higher at about 11:30 AM.  If you have never seen Old Faithful, then I should explain that there is a schedule of when the geyser will go off.  Now the park service has established this schedule based on formula's they used.  It is pretty accurate but does have some hiccups.  Sometimes it will only sputter and not go off way high as it does other times.  Then sometimes it chooses the time and is early or late.

After Old Faithful did its thing we went to the Old Faithful Inn and had some coffee and Ice Cream.  You can guess who had the Ice Cream!!  We enjoyed the lobby area of the Old Faithful Inn and there was a performer singing and playing a cello.  It wasn't country but it was OK, it just looked funny with a redneck boy and girl watching the performance.

After we left Old Faithful, we traveled to Yellowstone lake using one of the loop roads.  There are three major loops in the park.  I do not think they are officially named but most people refer to them as the Norris, Madison, or Lake loop and variations of this are the Lake Village loop, Canyon Village Loop and Mammoth Hot Springs-Tower Roosevelt-Norris loop.  Any way we traveled the Lake or Lake Village loop to the South Rim of the Yellowstone Grand Canyon, near the Canyon Village.  We took hundreds of photos and I will or have only posted the best here.  The South Rim of the Grand Canyon had a water fall and it was beautiful.  Cindy was a little scared around the Rim of the Canyon because she does not like heights.  I think tomorrow I will tie her to the bed and leave her here.  She is so afraid that she tried to protect me from falling and I am not scared at all.  But she kept yelling for me not to get to close and I was taking good photos from the distance I was at and I was not even near the edge.

We stopped at the Canyon Village which is the half way mark around the lake loop.  But tomorrow we can start on the Norris Loop and it connects with the Lake Loop and pick up the missed areas near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

I should mention that we saw another Grizzly and some Buffalo and Elk during the trip in the park.  No photos included here.
