Well today we went Kayaking on the Jackson Lake instead of
Jenny’s Lake. We entered the harbor at
Colter Visitors center and campground where we rented the equipment. They allow you 2 hours or 4 hours and I was
not crazy about the 4 hours since we had one in the Kayak that had never been
before. We got our paper work filled out
and a worker helped us to get in the kayak and pushed us off. Now, we had a pack with the camera (mine) and
snacks for the trip.
At first I thought
I would be swimming to shore and trying to rescue my DW from the water. I have never been in a Kayak that rocked so
much at the beginning. The person in
front, who’s name I cannot mention, was leaning to the right and left to paddle
instead of using their arms to pull the paddle through the water on each side. But about a half hour later the person in
front was doing a great job after some minor yelling and screaming.
They respond well to that kind of instruction
especially when told the kayak was going to turn over and they do not know how
to swim!!! It was beautiful around the
lake and we were able to get a good view of the Grand Teton mountains. They water was clear and when the wind was
not blowing and making ripples in the water you could see schools of fish.
We did not have a cover to go over the two-man kayak so our
butts got wet. Let me tell you the water
was cold. In case you do not know the
paddles get the water into the kayak while paddling. It took all the way to Jackson Hole for my
butt to thaw out, even though I had taken my bathing suit off and changed
clothes. It was a good experience and we
were able to travel on the water fast when we got our rhythm down and worked together. Would do it again!!
As I said after the adventure on the water we went to
Jackson Hole for someone’s fix on Starbucks.
We picked up some supplies and headed back to the RV campground.
On a personal note, our oldest daughter graduated from
college with a cybersecurity degree today!!
Congratulations Camron!! We are
very proud of you!!!
