We went to
church today at the campground here at Headwaters RV Park. There were two your missionaries leading the
service. One from Ohio and another from Kentucky. They work at the NPS during the summer and
lead the services at the park on Sunday.
Apparently this is a big organization because they are ion all the
National Parks during the summer. We
also met the Barnes family from Charlotte, NC.
They are actually member of the church where Ashley Clayton (our
daughter) attends. It is call Uptown
Elevations . It was a nice service and we
enjoyed meeting new people.
After
church, we spent the rest of the day riding in the southern part of
Yellowstone. We went to Grant Village
and West Thumb. At Grant Village there
was a movie about the 1988 fire in Yellowstone and the results of the growth
afterward. Very interesting to see how
nature heals and repairs itself. There
were 100 hundred of acres burned during this fire and it took hundreds of fire
fighter to work on it to help contain it, but it was a snow fall in September
of 1988 that put it out.
We also
stopped at Lewis Lake on the way to Grant Village and we saw a small water fall
while there.
After Grant Village we went to West Thumb and saw the Geysers. That was interesting to see the water at about 100 degrees or hotter and the mud bubble up from the heat. Yellowstone sits on top of a volcano.
